Illum 13 ta’Ġunju, PM News Malta waqt li kienet għaddejja l-protesta prova jieħu kumment mis-Sindku tal-Belt, is-Sur Alfred Żammit, iżda dan ma kellux x’jikkumenta għaliex baqa’ għaddej fi triqtu.
Dan ġara waqt li bosta residenti Beltin tellgħu protesta quddiem il-Kunsill Lokali tal-Belt sabiex jwasslu l’ilmenti tagħhom rigward storbju eċċessiv f’ħinijiet mhux xierqa, użu ta’ mwejjed u siġġijiet li jimblukkaw il-bankini kif ukoll qed jtellgħu petizzjoni biex jsir Ċentru Ċiviku għar-residenti tal-lokal fost l-oħrajn.
I totally support Residenti Beltin and the citizen residents who are speaking out about the take-over of public space by commercial interests in Valletta. We residents are now unable to move around the streets and squares of Valletta in safety and comfort because commercial enterprises are making profit from the use and abuse of public space. Now the new law extending hours for outdoor music on seven streets is so vaguely drafted that it is unenforceable and means that commercial enterprises now intrude into residents’ private space as well, preventing them from coping with daily living.
