An Italian entrepreneur from Catania, Sicily, who specializes in olive products, has expressed concerns about the scheduling conflicts of major Maltese fairs. The entrepreneur, who has been participating in these events for the past 20 years, has highlighted issues with the timing of the fairs held in Ta’ Qali and Monte Kristo.
This year, the Monte Kristo fair was held from June 25th to July 7th, while the Ta’ Qali fair ran from June 27th to July 8th. This overlap in dates created a significant scheduling conflict for the entrepreneur, who traditionally participated in both fairs.
In a recent audio message, the entrepreneur explained that, prior to 2024, the fairs were scheduled a week apart, with Ta’ Qali taking place first and Monte Kristo following. This previous arrangement allowed him to rent spaces and attend both events. However, the current scheduling has led to both fairs being held concurrently, impeding his ability to effectively manage his participation.
The entrepreneur is now requesting that for 2025, the Monte Kristo fair be scheduled after the Ta’ Qali fair. This change would enable him to attend both events and better manage his expenses. He emphasized that the current overlap disrupts his business arrangements and financial planning.
He also noted that with some adjustments, a compromise could be reached that benefits all stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and fair organizers. His frustration stems from a lack of flexibility in the scheduling, given his long-standing commitment to the Ta’ Qali fair.
Additionally, the entrepreneur discussed his pricing strategy, stating that he maintains the same prices in Malta as he does in Italy, reflecting local market conditions. He further explained that in other European countries, he adjusts prices due to higher transportation costs and other expenses.
The entrepreneur’s appeal highlights the need for improved coordination in scheduling major events to ensure fair participation and benefit for all involved. Local fair organizers are encouraged to review and adjust the scheduling to address these concerns and create a more inclusive environment for international vendors.

Jidher li qabel l-2024, l-ewwel kienet issir dik ta’ Ta’ Qali, imbagħad wara ġimgħa kienet issir dik ta’ Monte Kristo. B’hekk dan in-negozjant kien jiġi u jikri post fiż-żewġ fieri. Iżda jidher li minn dak li qal, dawk ta’ Monte Kristo bidlu d-dati u qed ikunu fl-istess dati, b’hekk in-negozjant qed jilmenta li hu dejjem mar f’dik ta’ Ta’ Qali, u issa qed isib li mhux sewwa li dawk ta’ Monte Kristo jkunu fl-istess żmien. Huwa qed jitlob li s-sena li ġejja, 2025, il-fiera ta’ Monte Kristo tkun wara dik ta’ Ta’ Qali, biex b’hekk ikun jista’ jiġi u jattendi fiż-żewġ fieri. Hu spjega li b’hekk ikun jista’ jġib l-ispejjeż lura kif ukoll jagħmel qligħ. Qal ukoll li bi ftit ftehim iż-żewġ fieri għandhom isibu kompromess biex igawdi kulħadd, kemm il-klijenti kif ukoll in-negozjanti u s-sidien tal-fieri. Huwa qal li mhux se jmur iktar f’dik ta’ Monte Kristo għax hu dejjem mar l-ewwel f’dik ta’ Ta’ Qali. Min-naħa tagħna, nisperaw li jinstab ftehim sabiex igawdu l-partijiet kollha. Fil-messaġġ audio, huwa spjega li dejjem żamm il-prezzijiet l-istess bħal ma għandu fl-Italja għax iħoss li Malta tilqgħu u jħossu daqs li kieku qiegħed fl-Italja. Spjega wkoll li meta jmur f’pajjiżi oħra fin-naħa ta’ fuq tal-Ewropa, huwa jirdopja l-prezz minħabba spejjeż ikbar ta’ trasport eċċ.
