Junior’s College amendments – Arnold Cassola

Independent Candidate and UOM academic Arnold Cassola shares his thoughts about the amendments in the University’s Junior College.

“Why is the Junior College killing thinking persons in Malta?” states Cassola
“The proposal introduced by stealth by the Junior College branch of the University of Malta to eradicate the subjects of Maltese, English, and Mathematics from the requirements necessary to continue with tertiary education in Malta is a stab in the back of free minded and free-thinking people in our country,” says Cassola.  He asks “Who is behind this idiocy and what is the political or commercial aim behind it?”
Cassola said  “Can you imagine the Italians, French or Germans, eliminating French, Italian, German, and Mathematics from their entry requirements? Apart from eradicating basic skills necessary for the formation of youth, this measure is a full fronted attack against Maltese identity and common sense.”
“As an academic proud to form part of our Alma Mater, I demand that such idiocy, as proposed by the Junior College section is to be halted immediately. My full support goes to MUT, which is asking to freeze this move. We deserve better, Malta deserves better.” concluded Cassola.
