Although environmental NGO’s won a legal battle yesterday that returned Miżieb and Aħrax to the public, PM News Malta was informed that the Mellieħa local council has continued to suspend camping permits in Aħrax woodlands due to hunting season.
Judge Lawrence Mintoff declared that the concealed government agreement giving the hunting lobby access to the Miżieb and Aħrax woodlands are null and void.
Now that the deal has been annulled by the Courts, the five NGOs demand that the Government accepts this judgement and declares immediately that all this land is a public area all year round.
The NGOs also demand that the government pay attention to the widespread calls for nature protection and open space preservation coming from all social classes in our country.
