The Gates Foundation enhances financing for initiatives using digital ID

In an effort to boost “global health and development projects,” the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has upped its commitment in digital ID initiatives by a portion of the $1.27 billion package. $200 million of the investment will go toward digital public infrastructure, such as digital ID and databases for civil registries.

NEW YORK (September 20, 2022) – As part of its annual Goalkeepers campaign, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation today announced the winners of its Goalkeepers Global Goals Awards

The statement came after the annual “Goalkeepers Report,” an evaluation of the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN (UN SGD). The globe will not meet the deadline set by the UN (target 16.9) for a universal legal identity by 2030, according to the research. On the plans, there is a podcast accessible here.
The Gates Foundation supports several digital ID-related programs, including the MOSIP, an open-source digital ID platform.
